Strength & Balance classes

Forward Health strength and balance class with a physiotherapist

A small-group class built around the work that keeps you steady, independent and confident at any age. Strength training, balance challenge, and the kind of variety that keeps it interesting week to week. Every class is run by a physio, so exercises are modified to your body and any niggle you're working through.

What to expect

Your first appointment.

01

1:1 assessment first

Before joining a class, we book you in for a 1:1 with one of our physios. They check your strength, balance, mobility and any conditions, then know exactly how to modify the class exercises for you.

02

Small group, individual modifications

Each class is capped, so you get plenty of attention from the physio in the room. Everyone works at their own level, the exercises are the same, the version of each exercise gets modified to suit you.

03

Progress tracked over time

Strength, balance and confidence improve when you turn up consistently. Your physio adjusts your version of the work as you get stronger, so you keep being challenged without being overwhelmed.

Who you'll see

We match you to the clinician whose interests fit your condition.

Brianna Bourne

Currimundi · Sandstone Point

Brianna, originally from the Sunshine Coast, discovered her interest in physiotherapy through her lifelong involvement in sport and fitness. Having grown up playing a wide range of sports including touch, netball, rugby and volleyball, she inevitably experienced injury herself and was supported through rehabilitation by a physiotherapist. This experience highlighted the profound impact physiotherapy can have on a person's wellbeing and inspired her to pursue the profession.

Brianna completed a Bachelor of Physiotherapy at the Australian Catholic University, undertaking clinical placements across Neurorehabilitation, Women's Health, Cardiorespiratory, Musculoskeletal Injuries and Surgical Rehabilitation. These experiences strengthened her commitment to supporting individuals through their recovery and helping them return to the activities that bring them joy. During her studies, she also worked as a sports trainer, gaining valuable insight into complex musculoskeletal conditions and developing a passion for guiding young athletes through their rehabilitation journeys.

With a particular interest in Women's Health Physiotherapy, Brianna has completed additional qualifications in this specialty. She is dedicated to empowering women through all stages of life, providing evidence-based, compassionate care tailored to each person's needs.

Outside of work, Brianna enjoys spending time with her dog, getting to the beach whenever she can, and participating in social sports. Her drive for self-improvement and her personal experiences shape her commitment to delivering high-quality care and helping every patient achieve their goals and live their healthiest, happiest life.

FAQs

Common questions.

Where are the classes held?

+

Sandstone Point clinic, in our group-class space. We run three sessions a week, Wednesday and Thursday at 10am, and Friday at 9am.

Do I need to be very fit to start?

+

Not at all. Most people who start with us are well off their previous fitness, or have never trained formally. The class is built to meet you exactly where you're at and progress from there.

Can I use my GP CCMP / Medicare referral?

+

GP CCMP plans (formerly TCA, EPC, or commonly known as Medicare referrals) cover 1:1 physio sessions only. They don't cover group classes, so Strength & Balance can't be claimed under a GP CCMP. We can absolutely use your plan for 1:1 sessions alongside your classes if that suits.

Can I claim through my health fund?

+

Yes. Classes are physio-led and claimable as group physiotherapy (item code 560) under most extras policies. We're HCF preferred and Medibank preferred for physio.

What if I miss a class?

+

We have a strict 24-hour cancellation policy. If less than 24 hours' notice is given, the class is billed in full. We'll always send a reminder in advance so you have time to reschedule.
