If you're not exactly sure what's involved with women's health and pelvic floor  physiotherapy, that's okay!

While it has been around for quite a few years, women's health physiotherapy is still considered relatively new in the health world. Because of that, not all women or health practitioners know about it.

But, we are glad you found this page so we can provide some more information.

Women's health issues occur in 40-60% of women. These issues can include leakage of urine or faeces, bladder or bowel urgency, prolapse or painful sexual experiences.

During pregnancy and the post partum period there are a few other conditions that can occur due to the extra demands placed on the pelvic floor. While leakage is one, pelvic pain and low back pain is another that womens health physiotherapists can help with. After birth, if you're not exactly sure how to get back to doing what you would like physically, we can also help you make a safe plan.

A treatment session is individualised but generally consists of an assessment (external or internal), manual therapy treatment, exercise prescription and advice and education.
